Spruce Up Your Space

Tired of boring black staplers? So are we. Tired of institutional white walls? So are we. Tired of spending your days in a real-life version of The Office (or Office Space, take your pick)? Of course you are.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average American spends more time working—8.2 hours a day*—than doing anything else, including sleeping, caring for children, participating in leisure activities and doing household chores. With so much time spent on the job, why does it seem there is rarely an effort to make the space in which we work more inhabitable?

In addition, there is no evidence to support the theory a humdrum work environment leads to better production. In fact, several studies found the exact opposite to be true. According to the Wharton School of Business, a good work environment led to greater productivity and a bigger bottom line.

At Promo Marketing magazine, we felt we had a duty to change the stereotype, and after sending out a few e-mails to some of the industry’s top suppliers, we had the promotional products to do it. Calming feng shui fountains, radical new staplers (yes, we said radical), custom Promo Marketing clocks and high-tech digital photo frames are just a few of the products we added. We found out taking a little care to spruce up, wipe down and retrofit a work area can add some fun and satisfaction to the day. We even produced a video tour of our new, improved office and all the great products inside. We hope you’ll take a minute to watch it at promomarketing.com (and then go finish your TPS reports).
